Enhanced Rail Travel
The Department of Rail Transport (DRT) recently discussed plans to adapt successful Japanese railway tourism practices. This includes developing local food products, similar to Japan’s railway lunch boxes, and allowing communities to sell OTOP products directly on tourism trains. These changes mean British residents in Thailand may find more varied and convenient options for exploring the country by rail, with improved onboard services. Recent additions to the network include the SRT Royal Blossom, a luxury service operating day trips between Bangkok and Pa Sak Jolasid Dam. Other refurbished Japanese trains now connect Bangkok with destinations such as Phetchaburi, Lop Buri, and Nakhon Ratchasima, offering upgraded facilities for passenger comfort.
