Fare Adjustments

The reduction applies to journeys covering six stations or more. For example, a journey of six stations will now cost 29 baht, down from 30 baht. Journeys of eight stations will be 34 baht (previously 35 baht), ten stations will be 39 baht (previously 40 baht), and twelve stations or more will be 44 baht (previously 45 baht). The minimum fare of 17 baht and fares for shorter journeys remain the same.

Exemptions and Discounts

The updated concession rules also modify fare exemption and discount categories. Children up to 120 centimetres in height will now travel free, as will passengers with disabilities. Individuals aged 60 and over are eligible for a 50% discount. These differ from previous terms, which had different height and age thresholds for child fares and student discounts.

MRT Purple Line

Separately, the MRT Purple Line fare will remain unchanged at between 14 and 42 baht per journey. This decision, made by the MRTA board, acknowledges current living costs and government policy to ease household expenses. Fares on this line have not been adjusted since 2016. The next scheduled review for the Blue Line is due in 2027.
